Education USA Fair

I REALLY WANT TO STUDY IN AMERICA

Begitu udah dibuka pintunya, semua orang langsung menyerbu masuk. UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY.

So, when the doors opened, I kinda started looking for UK's booth. And there it was.. tanpa ada yang menghampiri.. Seorang cewe bule pirang yang lagi ngobrol sama translatornya. OMG.

Lantas gw duduk.
si bule senyum.
Lidah gw beku.
Si bule masih senyum.
Tiba-tiba gw lupa kalo gw mahasiswi Sastra Inggris.

Oke, ngga segitunya. Wow.

Terus lanjut lagi, dia nanya gw lahir dimana. Gw jawab Central Baptist Hospital.
Dia ketawa, anaknya lahir disana.
Gw bilang dokter gw orang India namanya Dr. Na'Ik.
Dia ketawa garing, "Yea.. I dont know him"

Anyway, yang gw suka so far baru 2. Yang pertama, of course, University of Kentucky. Yang kedua namanya Savannah College of Art and Design (I guess), pokoknya singkatannya SCAD.

It's still 2 yrs ahead, tho. I have a plenty of time to think over it :)

Secret Valentine

Happy Late Valentine's Day!
Bagi kalian yang sudah punya pacar unyu-unyu, what did you guys get?
And untuk yang single fighter seperti gw (menyembunyikan isak tangis), how's it?

LOL
There were Trias, Aldy, Chui, Fendy, Marita, Fini, Purez, Charin, Andari, Suci, Nafira, Laila, Grace, and me. And I goooottt.. A cute white jacket with a big red bow in the front :D

Unyu sekali, and thankies so much to whoever who bought this for me
:) :)
Happy Late Valentine's Day!

garin's first trip to spore!

Blogging was kinda my thing. Yknow?
Perasaan, awal-awal gw masuk UI aja jiwa menulis blog gw membara. Tapi sekarang makin pudar. Which is a bit weird, karena gw anak sastra. Writing is my thing. Maybe it's just the idea of blogging that's bugging me lately. Entah gimana caranya.

Hanya sekedar melanjutkan usaha gw yang udah jelas gagal, the 366 things I love in my life.

One of em is my trip to Singapore last week.
Just to be honest, I've never been to Singapore before. Yep. I've been to USA, but never even visited Changi Airport.

ANYWAYYYYY, gw mau menekankan saja: This is, not only Garin's first trip to Singapore, but also his first time visit to another country. Unyu sekali, bukan?

GW: HEY, PIG!
Garin: (nengok) Ya?

Hari H mau berangkat ke bandara
Gw: (mantengin laptop)
Garin: (nonton TV, ngelirik jam, ngelap keringat, wah tiba-tiba bisa multitasking ya!)
Gw: (masih mantengin badan Mike Chang di laptop_
Garin: (gak konsen nonton TV) Aduh, kenapa belom jam 4 juga sih.
Gw: (mulai buka Youtube buat nyari sneak peek episode baru Glee)
Garin: (udah ngga merhatiin TV. Gambar-gambar di TV mulai berubah bentuk menjadi gambar pesawat semua) Aaah, ngga sabar nih.

Dan memang, it turns out that the trip was totally awesome! Yaa, oke lah emang lebih bersih daripada Jakarta and so on so forth. But shopping is not my thing (kecuali kalo Debenhams lagi sale), jadi.. ya biasa aja bagi gw.

The best part of the trip is obviously..
THE BREAKFAST-AT-THE-HOTEL!!!

The thing is, karena kita berangkat Sabtu malem dan pulang Selasa pagi, kita waktu jalan-jalannya cuma bentar banget. So, Garin and I are really looking forward for our next trip :)

My scholarship plan

Basically, I'm a have-to-have-a-goal type girl. No, not ambitious.. (pauses) Okay, YES! Maybe I *am* a bit ambitious. But not a Rachel-Berry-kind of ambitious.

(literally, a long pause before I wrote this next line)
Okay, maybe just a little.

I studied Grammar today with Miss Herlin. But since this is our first meeting, we only had to talk about class agreement, choose a class captain (and thank goodness, I'm not a class captain for this semester), and discuss about the syllabus. It only took us for.. perhaps half an hour to talk about it and she officially dismissed today's class.

Right before she dismissed the class, she asked us about how many credits do we take for this term. Some of us answered 22 and the rest around 19. The next question she asked is what classes do we take besides the ones from our department. I answered Greek Mythology, some answered Japanese Class, and one of my friends answered Javanese Class.

As soon as she heard that, she opened her jaw and asked, "are you serious?"

The thing is.. she told us that for those who are planning to apply a scholarship, especially the study abroad kind, it is important to pay attention whether the class has something to do with our department or not. She told us the story of her friend who wanted to apply a scholarship, but couldn't get through because the classes she took for "belanja SKS" have nothing to do with English Literature. Thus, the scholarship people (I don't know whether that is the right term for it) didn't accept her.

SOOOOOO.... since I *AM* planning to apply a scholarship one day to Fulbright.. *fingerscrossed* I asked her more about it after the class was dismissed.

Discussing about it with her, Trias, Fendy, and Ibnu (SEE, IBNU? GW NGGA NGATAIN LO DI BLOG INI!).. just made me even more excited! She said that it's also important for us to start thinking about what kind of study we want to focus on. Whether it's literature.. or linguistics.. or the fine arts.. or the other things that I forgot.

Gaaaahhh =_=
Must start thinking about it this moment! :D

ME LOVE MULTICULTURALISM!

Living in a multicultural country can be either a bliss or a catastrophe. It's your call.

LONG LIVE INDONESIA!

This is merely a reminder for all of you Indonesians. Start thinking about it as a gift, instead of a curse that must be wiped out.
